If Betsy Ross had lived in the Crescent City, and not the Quaker City, she might have designed her American flag a little differently. Instead of white stars on a blue background, she likely would have considered gold fleurs-de-lis on a field of purple. A clever array of purple, green, and gold stripes could also have been her preference.
We're not trying to rewrite history, nor be anyway disrespectful to our nation's beloved Old Glory, we just think the American Mardi Gras Flag© is a bit more festive. It's like mixing a little patriotism with our Mardi Gras or, perhaps, a little Mardi Gras with our patriotism. So unlike other Mardi Gras flags, the American Mardi Gras Flag© is in season all year long!
